At On Point Health, our mission is simple: help people feel better, move better, and live better—naturally and safely.

Karen Barile, RN, MSN, FNP-C

Family Nurse Practitioner | Functional & Integrative Health

Karen Barile brings over 30 years of clinical experience to On Point Health, with a lifelong passion for prevention, wellness, and helping patients feel their best at every stage of life. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Indiana Wesleyan University in 1996, blending advanced medical training with a root-cause, whole-person approach to care.

Her approach blends science, experience, and compassion, with a focus on functional medicine principles, nutrition and lifestyle support, non-invasive, drug-free therapies, and personalized care plans tailored to each individual. Karen is known for truly listening to her patients and meeting them where they are. Her goal is not quick fixes, but lasting improvements in health, mobility, and overall quality of life.

Throughout her career, Karen has practiced across a wide range of medical settings, including the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Family Practice, Endocrinology, and Occupational Health at Parkview Health, where she helped start and open the Purdue Health and Wellness Clinic in 2000. This diverse clinical background gives her a uniquely comprehensive understanding of how body systems connect—from hormones and metabolism to injury, inflammation, stress, and recovery.

Over the past 15 years, Karen’s passion has evolved into practicing Functional and Integrative Medicine, most recently with GladdMD. Her work focuses on identifying the “why” behind symptoms rather than masking them, and guiding patients toward sustainable, real-world solutions.

Karen personally utilized the same GVL non-invasive Erchonia® low-level laser therapy now offered at On Point Health as part of her own healing journey with Hashimoto’s thyroid disease and Lyme disease. Experiencing its benefits firsthand has made her especially passionate about sharing this innovative, evidence-based technology that supports the body’s natural healing processes without added stress or downtime.

Patients appreciate Karen’s ability to combine leading-edge therapies with practical lifestyle strategies that make real-life change achievable. Known for her warm, down-to-earth style, she partners closely with patients through education, empowerment, and individualized care plans—believing that optimal health comes from understanding the whole person, not just isolated symptoms.

Karen has lived in Fremont, Indiana for the past 10 years and previously served on the board of Shape Up Steuben County. While living in Fort Wayne, she volunteered with organizations including Matthew 25 and has spoken on health and wellness topics for Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS), churches, health food stores, the YMCA, and continues to speak for the Tri-State Sleep Society.

Outside the clinic, Karen enjoys staying active through pickleball, biking, kayaking, hiking, skiing, playing cards, and traveling with her husband, Alec. Together, they value time spent with family and staying connected to their community.

If you’re ready to move from surviving to truly thriving and restore your health, Karen invites you to take the first step and email On Point Health today. or Call (260) 268-0099
